hi,
this is basicly a bug report
but the search function is kinda broken
atleast on the tests i performed and also on this forum

try the following search int he searchbar
"Search"
and then type the following " Search Function"
on the first search keyword you wont find my post ( not even if it is the only post)
on the second it will pop up
but if you do not use capital letters , then it also does not pop up

can you fix this please ? as it makes the search function a useless function if it can not make a difference betwean caps and non caps and cant even search partial ...

I just tried the search myself with the term search (in lower case) and it turned up your discussion as the top result.

as guest i get a no permission error when i try to do the search (on my site ..not this site xD )

Search terms need to have a minimum length of 4 characters, that's why you can't search for boo. If I search for quote, I will find your discussion (as a guest as well as logged in). Despite performing the search successfully, I do however receive the message that I'm not allowed to do that (Je hebt geen permissie om dat te doen.). I have no idea, what this is referring to.

You should edit the config.php file in your flarums root folder and set 'debug' => true. That way, you error messages will become more meaningful.

could this has to do with the users plugin ?
as it should go to /forum/users to show all users ( plugin )
even when it points to the api folder

I don't think so, but you could try to disable it.

Have you given the permission to View user list to guests or at least logged in users (members)?

ok now it is working , and solved
it seems the user plugin can do a bit complicated

because it ask permission to search for users ( witch i dit not allow for guests ) does it trows that error

so now i enabled it ( i got 2 times the same name in admin , one in dutch and one in english , seems the dutch one is to block the /users page ) and now it does work

Search is performing fine now, as a guest and as a member.

The link to your forum users (Gebruikers) however is broken now, during my first tests it delivered at least an empty result, which was not correct either.

That is correct
As admin I can see it but i dont like it If users can see it xd
But If you type in a name in the search and click On the "gebruikers" ( Users)
Then remove the search query then the permission get broken and you can see all users
It's related to the user extension so I guess that mod need a little more tweaking to fully work or the search system need optimized so it doesn't trow errors when there is a no permission setting for that part xd

What you would need is an improved link extension that would allow to hide the Gebruikers link for guests.

@Pollux yes that part is true , and if i am not mistaken he was working on that in a next release

but it still adds the error in the search button
because the search is searching on members table when it does not have permission so it trows out that error

sadly that i can not edit those stuff , as i only got knowledge of oop and pdo with out a framework ( pure php xD -> notepad++ style )

i know it is beta , i love the forum software and it works great
but it would be great to have a way to edit the files manual to tweak the stuff (like adding code to the navbar based on permissions , tweaking the search function so it works based on permissions ..

anyway
the problem is solved at this moment , the problem was the extention to show the user list ( gebruikers) that prevent permission for normal users when the search box still try to acces it
and ofcourse the 4 letter minimum search xD
