I think users should get a chance to rate member before going through his posts. I mean, it is wise not to trust a member with certain things if he has only 2-3 posts or joined very recently. Currently, looking at a thread, there is no way to gauge a member's trust level.

I think you should just create a separate group for trusted users and automatically promote users to this group when they, say, create their third post.

i am not a big fan of ratings - whenever i saw a community that had a dislike option if was somehow misused for whatever reasons.

But for a trust level - an extension that could work with that would be nice.
Like having an option to see certain subforums/threads only when you are member of the forum for time x and have x posts.
Or users that have x posts other found usefull (maybe a thanks for the post function) they get some moderations rights/rank x.
so that the administrator can create rules that the member trust level helps by giving long-time users, users that help a lot certain privileges and so can help moderate in a way.

We can even have a metric which is based on trust points which banks on user activity metrics like time spent on forum, account age, likes, no. of posts etc

A badge or text like -

Forum reputation - Beginner / intermediate / Scholar etc

But easier way is to make no. of posts and joining date visible near the avatar

I move user for a different group when his first message is approved.

If you have several levels of trust, you can always make groups for each level.

I just wanted visible stats near the avatar. No. of posts, joining date, if possible no. of likes etc. That gives an idea about how genuine a member is, or how reliable his posts are.

I think this is not done because of "mobile first" approach. It is easy to overload small screen with information.

The only metrics I find useful is number of likes. I even made an extension to include it into user card (not under avatar, but on the box that pops up when you point at avatar, also visible on user profile).

jordanjay29 Yes. I was thinking of a simple and clear idea for visitors, other members etc. Not just mods. If I can see your join date as 2015 and no. of posts as 2K. It is a straightforward assumption that you take this board seriously. Not just a colour code or something you need to have a background to understand.

So are you thinking like SMF's post titles that increment on post accumulation? Or does this take in more than just posts?

meetdilip The UserCard (available on hover) currently shows join date. Showing post count shouldn't be a big deal.
