Displaying discussion title more prominently

It becomes very difficult to know the discussion title in any discussion/thread that has more than one or two posts. Consider the following thread images.

crazedbuzz i completely agree, I think this was discussed somewhere with @Toby , where the argument remained that adding a (sticky) discussion title somewhere would reduce the size of the page too much.

I've got a few instances of flarum setup on my own server. Both of them have some pretty long discussions, going back years, with hundreds of posts.

In the "Storyteller Forum", I've got things split between a "discussions" thread and a "game" thread (it's a roleplaying play-by-post game). My players have many times complained about not realizing which thread they're on. And since the left "thread list" doesn't always show, it's really easy to miss which thread I'm in.

Best solution? Have the title show in the top menu bar. Or pin it (maybe a smaller version) to just below the menu bar.

Toby Thanks for the info Toby (and, by the way, for this fantastic bit of forum software)! I'd rather not pollute the Github issue with these questions, so I'll ask here. Feel free to "slap my hands" or whatever if that's not the way to do things.

It seems to me like adding a sticky title could be implemented with the "headroom.js" plugin. Then put something in the preferences (site prefs or maybe user prefs) for enabling/disabling?

Never noticed this issue. Probably because I mostly use Flarum on the desktop with the left panel pinned.

I'm a bit skeptical about adding a banner with the post title, particularly on mobile. The title HTML tag was invented for that, if your mobile browser doesn't show the title maybe the browser should be replaced ? I mean, the information is already there... No need to use more screen space ?

But of course I can only support making this an extension so users have the choice.

That would be a decent solution, except that the left panel has a tendency to disappear, and doesn't return without going to the main page and then back again. The highlighted topic isn't necessarily very apparent either.

Relying on the window title (ala HTML title) doesn't help. The discussion/thread title has more informational bits as well, such as the color and meta tags. These are things that can't be as easily represented in the window title. Even just having the color, minus the tags, is far more informative than just the window title.
