Flarum with Email Newsletter

I'm thinking of moving from vB to Flarum for my forum software, however one of the key features that my current forum has is integration with Mailchimp which adds new users to the community email newsletter.

This email newsletter is essential to the running of my site as it significantly increases my traffic, community engagement and site revenue.

Does Flarum easily integrate with any email newsletter software?

You could write an extension or try to convince one of the established extension developers to write one for you…

SieNew There are a couple extensions that support mass mailings (flagrow/users-list comes to mind), but they would be manual and using Flarum's email methods and not an external client like Mailchimp.

As ThomasLewis said, the best way to integrate something like Mailchimp is an extension.

ThomasLewis hopefully this will be something that will be developed, maybe by the Flagrow ( @luceos ) team? Writing an extension is beyond my skill level unfortunately, Flarum is quite a new learning experience for me.

I know when I was considering other options that the guys at Discourse said it's one of their most requested features so I really think it could set Flarum apart ?

SieNew We might develop such an extension at Flagrow in the future, but I can't make any promise...

If you need this feature for your forum you can also contact the many developers who can create it for you (including me ? ).

It could be scheduled but for now I'm thinking just an admin UI to "define" it and then queue the mailing.

eddiewebb I know there've been similar projects in https://discuss.flarum.org/d/24583-email-digests-open-beta and https://discuss.flarum.org/d/20443-mailing, but those aren't currently maintained. Might be good for inspiration though! Would be awesome to see something like this in Flarum!

I've got Kyrne's digest running on Beta .16 but there is some flakiness in the settings. Seems the Serialization event is not firing for CurrentUser on settings page.

But instead of having a dedicated DB column I want to move subscription into user preferences anyway. So looking for inspiration on how to interact with user preferences. I'm going to dig ino core notifications to start,

After that my goal is to integrate with fof/pretty-mail rather than having it's own template.

All those events have been deprecated, extenders should be used instead.

We don't have docs on this (yet), but I'd recommend taking a look at some extensions that modify preferences, like drafts or my rich text editor extension.
