Setting up ftp to /var/www/html? Trying to add website with Flarum!

I know this forum is about Flarum but I would like to add a website to go with the forum but I don't know how to install ftp to go to /var/www/html. I'm new to Linux but want to get better and the people on AskUbuntu are savages who eat away at your soul for asking as much as this! Plus this forum has a better community! That's +1 in my book. If anyone can help please let me know and if this type of support is not allowed please tell me and I will repost on AskUbuntu or OpenStack.

Where are you hosting your site? When you reference installing ftp, are you talking about installing it on your website's server or the system you are trying to connect from?

LinuxLefty I have a web server up its just I want to be able to FTP in to upload .php files and such for a site to help me learn php, js, and node so forth. I'm hosting on a Microsoft Azure Ubuntu server and I don't understand your second question "When you reference installing ftp, are you talking about installing it on your website's server or the system you are trying to connect from?" and if you can make more clear?

ThomasLewis Trying to install it so I can access the web directory /var/www/html. My last attempts only gave me access to the user file.

gonzalezx600 Read through this manpage. It will help you configure an ftpd (which is the program that provides the ftp service on a computer). Most likely, the problem lies in the configuration.

gonzalezx600 if ssh is working already, you should use sftp instead of ftp. It uses the sshd service and is encrypted.

gonzalezx600 sftp is usually preferred over regular ftp if your client supports it (most modern clients do). Ftp is just more well-known because it predates sftp by many years.
