XHR Requests Failing

So I really love this forum and really wanted to play around with it, however I find that after installing the software a few things are broken.

Any XHR request that fires fails right away.

When I try to access the admin area I get a file not found error.

Not sure what I did wrong.

I can confirm I am using Debian with Apache. The directory has AllowOverride All and the .htaccess file is there so the URL rewriting should be working just fine.

Take a look here for general troubleshooting instructions.

If accessing the admin area is giving you a 404, it sounds to me like there's definitely something wrong with the URL rewriting. Presumably you're getting 404s on those XHR requests too?

Good to hear that you've got .htaccess set up correctly... Do you definitely have mod_rewrite installed on your server?

Yup mod-rewrite is definitely installed and working with several other software installs on the same server... This is why I'm confused.

When you try to visit /admin, do you see a fancy error page generated by Flarum, or one from the server itself?

If the former, please scroll down on the left pane and tell us whether the last element in the list says "index.php" or "admin.php".

Seems to be a generic server message.

So the issue was that I had 2 declarations in my apache config handling the same directory. I commented one out, and all is well.
