Actually, this is coming from using quite a lot of different forum before Flarum. Usually a new user has greeted with an Email or a PM with a nice message and telling him about various things on our website. This is the way normally everything happened till auto responders came in. Now a bot account (preset auto responder) messages the new user and tells him about various features and stuff of the forum. Users can always go back to it to remind themselves of a feature they forgot. Discourse did it in a very nice way.
