maniraj1234 could you make a custom 404 Page
maniraj1234 Is there a way to provide meta description to threads

At the moment, Flarum doesn't support those. Would you mind asking Flarum-specific questions in the Support section of this forum? This thread is about the FreeFlarum service.

Antoine My FontAwesome extension is ready to update to beta 8

And there was much rejoicing! BBCode-FA added.

arda Flagrow Ads

The premium plan will support it, eta 2018H2.

Yay! Working great! Thanks again for your excellent service!

    @Sanguine

Today during the day periodically 504 Gateway Time-out. Are you going to earn on FreeFlarum? Eliminate the errors. Such a service will not cost money. In future.

Sanguine Also, there are no API URLs in the Google index for discuss.flarum.org.

I showed a screenshot. Google sees these links, but they are not in the search. But there will be more of these links. How will Google react to 100,000 such links? Why can not the /API/ close in robots.txt?

PSA: today intermittent gateway errors have been reported at freeflarum. The expected time to resolution is 2 hrs from now. Follow this discussion for updates.

[+14min] A temporary fix has been implemented, everything should work right now. A structural fix is expected within 4 hrs.

The root cause for the gateway timeout error has been fixed as well. Here's a brief wrapup:

Symptoms: today, 402 requests to the FreeFlarum service - spread over the day - resulted in a "504 Gateway Timeout" error.

Root cause: an open file limit in the PHP master process.

Root fix: increase file limit for PHP from 1024 to 16384.

Meta fix: add file limit usage monitoring for all processes to the 5 minute interval monitoring. The meta fix has been tested successfully:

The symptoms were not detected immediately, as the monitoring provider does re-checks to eliminate false positives. Because only a fraction of the regular traffic resulted in a gateway error, most health-probes succeeded

However, with the new meta-fix in place, a similar problem in the future will be detected a long time in advance.

Thanks to all the FreeFlarum users helping to deduce this problem!

      @Sanguine

do you plan to add the ability to edit the language from the administrative panel? Many extensions are not translated correctly.

@Sanguine Hello. I’m considering free flarum for a new community I am building. I have a few simple questions and did not see them answered here, so... (sorry if they are here and I missed them)

        1. Is it possible to allow my users to use their WordPress login to log into this forum?
        2. Is it possible to have both an open forum (login required but free to use) AND a closed forum (paid subscriptions only)? How would I manage this? I use MemberPress to set permissions on my WP site.
        3. Can I set this up as a subdomain? i.e. forum.mydomain.com
        4. Is there any information yet on how much a paid version of FreeFlarum will cost to remove the ads?

Thank you. I appreciate your help!

          1 No, I don't think so
2 You can customise which type of people can access the forum whether their members or not
3 Yes you can have your own domain through Cname
4 Not sure but you can export the files and put them on your web server so you can manage the ads.

[deleted] Thanks for the reply! Regarding #2, to be clear, it’s possible to manage which forums a user can access? How does this work? Is there a role, or membership level type of setting? Regarding #4, I won’t be able to do that. I am hosting my WP site on WPEngine and I cannot install Flarum there. This is why I’m asking about the cost of an ad-free FreeFlarum.

PTKen You can manage forum access by restricting tags and also you can add groups like "verified" "liked person" "suspended" etc and then you can edit what group can do. When I use Freelarum, I don't get any ads but you can use 000webhost as they have free web hosting

PTKen WordPress login to log into

There is the Flarum SSO extension, but it is unstable and doesn't yet work on FreeFlarum, as you have to manually modify the database. The extension could be made compatible however, so if enough people want it, the author is perhaps willing to add a GUI setting for the API key.

PTKen how much a paid version of FreeFlarum

Ad-free for non-commercial use, I'm thinking of $7 per month. For businesses and the largest forums (>50K/m pageviews), $95 per month. What do you think is reasonable?

Fla Powered by Facebook Login? can I have screenshots of the settings

What doesn't work? Any error messages? My settings:

ernestdefoe Any chance of maybe getting this extension added please? [reactions]

Thanks, will be added after beta8 release.

Fla edit the language from the administrative panel?

I will not build it on top of Flarum, but perhaps somebode else will make an extension to make updating translations easier. As you probably know, you could update translations already by sending a Pull Request to the corresponding Github repo or taking over maintenance of a translation. See elsewhere on this forum for instructions.

Fla How will Google react to 100,000 such links

Those links have a mimetype of json so Google will not see them as full pages, merely as assets of another page. Since a few years, the Google Crawler supports Javascript so it can index pages with Ajax (ie Flarum) to a limited extent. Eventually, I expect Google to switch from indexing the noscript section to the full JS experience (ie what the human visitor sees).
