A while ago I asked some people to please do usability testing of Flarum's homepage & website. Here are the results: (they're still relevant — the website is the same today, as it was, then)
https://usability.testing.exchange/-57/flarumorg
I know you (the Flarum team) are short of time. Anyway, maybe if some day in the future, you decide to a bit rework the homepage — then you might want to keep some of the feedback from this usability testing in mind.
Key points:
- Someone was wondering if the "Try it out* button took him/her to sandbox for test comments, or to a real site where s/he should not do anything crazy.
- The website is beautiful.
- You could add testimonials from companies that use Flarum.
- Maybe slipt demo and the real community into two separate sections, don't require login for the demo.
- A bit much technical language.
- "if you wish to appeal to a variety of audiences, then simplify your content. Explain the platform and its features in simpler language, so it appeals to a wider audience or even if it is programmers and developers, then simplifying it would appeal to the amateurs and beginners in the field or to anyone just starting out and wanting to learn."
- "I have the impression that the product itself is very good".
i hope some day in the future this'll be a bit useful to you, & best wishes.
