I thought it was about time I made an appearance over here. 🙂 I'm the co-founder and administrator of ThinkClassic, a community specialising in classic computer hardware founded in Adelaide, South Australia. We launched the website last year and have since expanded to include members from all over the world. Building the community around the FluxBB software allowed us to create the exact combination of form and function we wanted, and I'm looking forward to building our next revision around Flarum when it's released. We look for software that is well written, easily maintained and designed with user experience in mind, and Flarum seems to excel in those three areas.
Not to mention it seems fitting for a community that originated in Adelaide to use a software platform that originates from here as well. 😉
Because of the nature of our community and the fact most of our members are used to older machines, software and interfaces, it'll be interesting to see how the Javascript interface of Flarum is received. I'll admit that I have received some pushback from the other administrators on this matter, so we'll continue to evaluate our options and test some designs between now and the public release.
I do believe that we need to make this transition to continue to grow the community, and because Flarum is now our default upgrade path and the simplest option, I'm hopeful that we can produce something that works for our community and at the same time be one of Flarum's early adopters.
