Hey guys! ? Ok this is my scenario...
1. I am a total noob when it comes to web development
2. I was able to successfully install (after fixing a few issues) Flarum with the help of my hosting provider back in Dec2016 on a shared hosting website just to try it, and there's no risk since its a new website with no content or traffic. (it's a ghost town now). I forgot the version
3. Now that there is a 2017 version, I'm planning to install the latest version in a much more established website, in its /subdirectory. I know that there is a risk, but I really really really really like Flarum so much (after tons and years of research, my heart still goes back to flarum. So below questions I'm asking to mitigate risk.
Hope you can help me with these questions:
1. If I install in /subdirectory (/subfolder), and it didn't work well, do you think it will affect the website as a whole? I'm afraid it will erase even the contents of the root if issues are encountered. Or will not affect the root and other subfolders, since flarum is isolated in just that /subfolder? (I hope it's possible to just delete that subfolder in case anything goes amiss, and everything will be back to its original state (before flarum).
2. When the stable version arrives, do you think it will be much easier to upgrade?
I'm asking all these because I cannot afford for the root of the website to be affected in case something goes amiss in the flarum /subfolder so I want to lessen risk. But I really like Flarum and very thankful to this community. ? Your thoughts on this please?
