Installation Help in Shared Hosting

hi to everyone

i am planning to start a forum and I was researching between NodeBB / Flarum and Discourse

As per my research so far, NodeBB and discourse cannot be installed on shared hoisting but i have seen some people claiming that they installed it on shared hosting. I have a couple of questions

Can you install it on shared hosting like hostgator ? is there a guide on it in forums?
Can you install plugins or themes by just uploading/activating like Wordpress? If not then can you do it in shared hosting environment without SSH?

jordanjay29 hi thanks..but there are lots of people complaining its not working..
Moreover the Bazar plugin that enables a user to activate the plugins like wordpress cant be used using this script.

never mind i got digitalocean and i am now trying nodebb ..because the only reason to go with flarum was because i thought it could be used on shared hosting ?

Flarum isn't designed to run on shared hosting at this developing stage. You can try to install and run it, but... maybe you will find limitations.

Anyway isn't impossible install into shared hosting, but it requires some work. I did it sometimes mirroring a local dev flarum install into shared hosting (with some config.php changes) and everything works. But... do this will be your choice.

Flarum aslo have more reasons to be chosen over NodeBB or Discourse, but that is another history.
