shared hosting with ssh access?
- Edited
there is my hosting for flarum https://hyperhost.ua/en/hosting
Pollux
That is true of course but from what I've seen in the post what he needs is a VPS. Shared hosting is great because of the ease of use and cost. However since he wants SSH access a VPS would suit his needs a lot better which is a point brought up in a few posts here. I'm just saying where he can get the cheapest VPS as I assume that's what OP needs.

nixpc that really depends on several factors. A common one being the shared host is over subscribed. Note everyone needs a VPS but I do agree that if this is within budget, it's well worth pursuing.

I choose to disagree. You can't compare managed shared hosting with an unmanaged VPS which is in a similar price range.
I have run a large forum in the past with considerable server costs (four-digit euro amount per month) and I never considered an unmanaged server. 99% of forum owners don't have the skills or - as in my case - the time to permanently update and secure a root server. A fully managed VPS or a fully managed dedicated server however is a lot more expensive than shared hosting.

Right, that's why you have to choose a good provider. But even with a VPS, a bad provider has a lot of other means to spoil your party. And here we come back to the initial question: quality shared hosting with SSH access. Uberspace (mentioned by me in a previous post) is not oversubscribed according to my experience, offers you all the freedom you need and asks for about 5 Euro per month (and even less if you can't afford that).

100% - I've seen this myself with Contabo.
I have a question about the SSH access when this topic is already about it. I was planning to take shared web hosting at Unlimited, I contacted them about SSH access and received this answer:
Dear Milan,
Terminal (Shell) access is enabled through cPanel. SSH access through Putty or similar clients is not possible on Shared hosting for security reasons, but everything provided by the terminal from cPanel is identical, completely.
Unfortunately we do not have any information about Flarum software nor have we had any contact with it, but our users have done installation through Composer on a couple of occasions and it works, but we do not provide technical support for Flarum forum software.
We are here for additional questions.
Best regards
Does it mean I won't be able to install Flarum on their hosting?
Thanks in advance for the help.

bryantmilan hey. This'll work absolutely fine. I previously used a host that offered the same thing in the sense of a virtual applet in cpanel that provided access to a SSH shell.
It's essentially the same thing as running from a console window locally.
