Tyler Both the thread OP posted and the dev say it's not allowed. This is because it's a bad idea due to current limitations.
However, if you want to follow the philosophy of consequences be damned! full speed ahead I believe it's fairly trivial to modify your username in the database.
Hopefully you have the foresight to not expect a lot of help when you change it and bork everything..
