404 errors when accessing forum

I am trying to allow my forum to be accessed from a subdomain that is pointed at my folder on my server and now I am getting this error on the forum everytime I click a topic or page

Not Found

The requested URL /garey_forum/api/discussions/18 was not found on this server.

Additionally, a 404 Not Found error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.

Also I did mess with the config file and tried to change the url there to 'url' => 'http://forum.gareygraphics.com', instead of 'url' => 'http://gareygraphics.com/garey_forum',

There's a some stuff here you haven't mentioned that would need to be checked.

Did you make sure your DNS points 'forum.gareygraphics.com' to the right ip address?
You don't mention a webserver, will it know to take a request for forum.gareygraphics.com and display the correct directory?

I am using Cpanel and currently have my subdomain pointing to the folder "public_html/garey_forum" webhostingpad allows you to choose a folder to point your subdomain at and it auto generates CNAMES. They look good from what I can see.

Ah I just saw my error... I had everything setup right but I messed with the .htaccess file and when I reuploaded it the file was missing the "." It is working now. Thanks for your quick response @Kulga
