Hello here,

I've the same problem with Flarum (beta 1 and beta 2) : everything seems to work (no errors) except when I try to start an action with javascript things (IE: activate an extension from the back office, or post a new discussion).

I "think" it's a problem with javascript, but not sure at all 🙂

If you have an idea, it would be great and if you need more precisions, no problem 😉

I'm not seeing any issues at all. Please specify the steps you take so we could most probably reproduce it. I also tested signing up and it works (even though you didn't set up any email configuration yet).

You've told us almost nothing about the problem. Except that "it doesn't work". You didn't tell us what went wrong, what error messages you saw etc.
Please review the guidelines.

Also, please read that troubleshooting page I linked all the way and follow all instructions (especially the ones at the bottom) to find an error message if there is any.

Franz Sorry I did'nt notice that part, my fault. What I have is only a 401 error with this little message "errors: Array".

luceos : I found this problem with 2 things :

1- When I try to start a new discussion, the box at the bottom opens up, I put my title, tag and content, but when I try to send them, the box reloads without any changes and without posting my discussion.

2- When I try to enable an extension, a popup window opens up with "Please Wait..." but nothing else... I tried several times but it seems that it ends with "Please Wait..." and the extension isn't activated.

Hmm, 401 means it's a permission problem. You're "not authorized" to perform the corresponding request.

Did you play around with the permissions? (I'm not saying you did something wrong; but I haven't heard reports like this before. So I'm still hoping it's not Flarum that's making a mistake here...)

Franz I'm also seeing this problem on our test install here: forums.nimblehost.com

Steps to reproduce:

Login as the test user (u: jonathan p: test1234)
Click "Start a discussion"
Enter title and content
Click "post discussion"
Select "general" for the tag in the modal window which appears
Click "Confirm"
Note the 401 Unauthorized error in the console

On a side note, I'm also unable to specify new tags in the modal window asking for a tag to be entered. There is a error in the console related to that as well.

I've not altered any file or Flarum permissions, just uploaded and proceeded to the install.

Not by myself, I've just uploaded all files with Filezilla and performed the installation 🙂

Just to make sure: I'm not talking about file permissions, but the Flarum ones that you can configure in the admin panel.

I've just take a look at these permissions and don't see something strange 😛 By the way, I've problems with public and admin sides. As I can see, permissions are just for public stuff, don't they ?

Try the following since this is something that happen to me the first time I install it.

Because you're accessing the application from the root (http://example.com/forum/) try to see on the console if the API calls are being sent to (http://example.com/api) and not to (http://www.example.com/api)

If it has the www sub domain than that is why you can't post or load discussions you have to view your forum using http://www.example.com and do everything from there.

Not sure if this is whats wrong but is a good place to start since most of the loading happens while making AJAX calls to load content or post content. And the domain plays a big part when doing this, since www.example.com is not the same as example.com

d1a8lo24 Don't think that's the problem here, the domain listed in the console matches the URL in the browser's address bar exactly. I'm accessing forums.nimblehost.com and the error in the console lists forums.nimblehost.com/api/discussions.
