I am sure you have plans for a link ( button/ option ) to see unread post since last visit. If somehow skipped, would be nice to have one.

You're talking about a section with unread posts only, right?

When we land on " Forum Home " a button or an icon which we can click to see posts since last visit. A redirection to a page with listing than a section.

Just like, I left somewhere todays. I do not know what all new threads ( posts ) happened in between. So a button / icon on home page which gives me a list of threads that has been updated since my last visit.

But discussions with new content are bold in the discussion list. Why is that not enough?

In case of a busy forum, the list which I guess 10 - 20 discussions might get updated pretty quickly. It is much easier to have a list of threads with new content than go looking for it.

If anything, we'll likely add a filter on the left side.

What I'd prefer is adding configurable "saved searches" that let you use search gambits to construct your own views of the discussion list. So, for example, you could save a search for "is:unread" in your personal filter bar. I'm pretty sure that will come (as an extension, but not quite yet).

I have tried it and search result still shows all posts. Is there anything that you have to enable in administration.

MingZ Still works for me, as far as I can tell. It doesn't look for unread discussions, it looks for unread posts, and every discussion has at least one post.
One way to check if it works is to look at the comments icon on the right of every discussion and check if it's bolded, if it is, you've got unread posts.

Sometimes my user have the problem that clicking on an unread discussion in the list of "is:unread" does not automatically scroll down to the latest unread posting in the discussion. Not all of the discussions in the search result seem to have the post_id at the end of the link.

How does this happen and how can I change this, so that the post_id of the last unread posting is at the end of the link?

Tikey it's actually a limitation of how search is implemented https://github.com/flarum/core/blob/68afdd21aee3b2032aaf89052bf3951c164df01d/js/src/forum/components/DiscussionListItem.js#L69

When there's no search taking place, the link points to the last unread post. When a search is taking part, it links to the most relevant post. Except the is:unread search doesn't appear to return a "most relevant post", so the link simply points to the start of the discussion.

Sadly an extension cannot change that behavior without overriding all of DiscussionListItem.view.

Just an idea for making this search available by click: I used the Link created by this search (/all?q=is%3Aunread) within the extension "Link" to give my users an easy access.

bodagrave The issue about this is that it would make the "All Discussions" button not working anymore as the q= argument won't be removed from the URL on click.
