Broxi The correct time to break extensions and do big refactorings as we've seen in beta 8 is during the beta part of a project.
It is better to do this than after the first final release when a lot of people have adopted the software already, which would affect far more people.
This is the price we pay for a better piece of software later on.
I would be disappointed in the team if they didn't do this now, coming from the perspective of someone who develops PHP software himself.
