Arnold it upsets me that no one from the core or fof teams didn't suggest to check mdarea setting

I'm the one who's been working on the TextEditor stuff (probably including updating mdarea to the broken version 🙈).

To be completely honest, it slipped my mind. To me, something not getting formatted implies a potential bug in the formatter. I hadn't had time to test it myself or otherwise see something that would imply that the issue was with the editor itself.

I'm sorry for the wasted time and frustration on this issue. I know it's not fun, and I wish we could have resolved this easier. On the bright side, 1.0 simplifies the editor stuff and temporarily removes mdarea, so people shouldn't bump into this in the future.

Arnold Sorry you spent so much time on it but, thank you! I heard about the mdarea thing and for some reason I never put two and two together.

I think because when I first saw posts about mdarea I wasn’t noticing any issues. So I figured, “this must not be affecting my forum.”

Then recently I noticed the embed issue and only sometimes.

After I published the video, when I accessed it with a mobile phone, the video did not display the thumbnail of the first frame. Now I have to use a picture as the cover, but it is normal to access it with a computer. Please help me to solve this problem.

I think this plugin currently does not use the "privacy enhanced mode" of Youtube? Would be great for GDPR complicance to use that instead. It should be a simple change: https://www.ghacks.net/2018/05/23/why-you-should-always-use-youtubes-privacy-enhanced-mode/

poVoq You're correct, it embeds the standard www.youtube.com

It's a pretty simple change to make, and I've opened a PR FriendsOfFlarum/formatting31

However, I've not merged it, as I'd like to gather feedback before doing so, if at all. See my comments in the PR itself

1- About convert any URLs in this format to view. It is possible with this extension ?

2- About external links open in other windows.
When any user post a link have the possibility to opens only external links in a new tab?

Walys this extension only enable features already available in TextFormatter https://s9etextformatter.readthedocs.io/

As far as I'm aware, none of the features you described are built-in, so this extension cannot enable them. They can however be created as new Flarum extensions.

I think implement at least the third point (option in admin to disable click in the image to open a pop-up) maybe a good option for the next update if it is not complicated and the author sees it correct.

Not sure what is going on with this youtube. But most of the videos I post says:

Watch on YouTube

You would think that the author set it to "No embed". But if I view source code, and copy paste it in https://www.w3schools.com/html/tryit.asp?filename=tryhtml_intro, it shows as normal.

Anyone else have this issue?

The problem appears to be the referrer policy. YouTube embeds only work when the browser sends the Referer header.

Flarum defaults to Referrer-Policy: same-origin which means the referrer isn't sent for any request to a different origin, including iframes.

The policy can be changed by editing config.php. Any value from https://developer.mozilla.org/en-US/docs/Web/HTTP/Headers/Referrer-Policy can be used. strict-origin-when-cross-origin seems to be a good compromise.
