The problem appears to be the referrer policy. YouTube embeds only work when the browser sends the Referer header.

Flarum defaults to Referrer-Policy: same-origin which means the referrer isn't sent for any request to a different origin, including iframes.

The policy can be changed by editing config.php. Any value from https://developer.mozilla.org/en-US/docs/Web/HTTP/Headers/Referrer-Policy can be used. strict-origin-when-cross-origin seems to be a good compromise.

Is there any known issue with Safari (on iOS, also DuckDuckGo on iOS) and embedded Instagram links?
The Instagram is shown (text visible) in the post but now picture and instagram profile pic are shown.
Embedded Twitter and Youtube work.
On Android (Chrome, DuckDuckGo) and PC (Chrome, Firefox, Edge, Opera) everything is fine.

Here is how it looks like on iOS (red arrows=missing content):

m4v3rick it could be related to the referer policy maybe? (see my post higher in the thread).

If you know how, could you check the browser javascript console or network tab for errors? This could help diagnose. Or share the link to a page where we can experience it. Unfortunately I don't have Safari so I couldn't test myself.

Thanks for your reply.
Here is a link and I would have checked the console for errors, but I don't have any device with the possibility to install Safari either. I also think it is an iPhone issue. Sometimes the Instagram profile pic is missing sometimes profile pic and picture of the post are missing.

I found a 15min free online iOS emulator and could rebuild the issue.
Console throws me these errors:

Today i encountered

in /public_html/vendor/s9e/text-formatter/src/Renderer.php:46

This one affects only admin users, they can login, but after login they are welcomed with a blank page, but admin panel works.

I disabled the 4 , and it returned back to normal

m4v3rick to fix that, you'd need to change the CORS policy if you were responsible for the content. As it's Instagram, there's not much you can do sadly.

m4v3rick The allow from directive is enough. Don't modify the other as it's not necessary. My point here is that if Instagram delivers the CORS headers then you can't change them. However, as it works for my iPhone, I'd certainly try this out.

This feels kind of weird. On some iPhones it works, some instagram posts work better than others on the same device.
On android no problem at all. 😟
