Would it be possible to add invidious.io (eg. invidious.namazso.eu) as Video link? We'd like to use this than original youtube.

Yolo this extension doesn't provide any custom embed, it only enables the ones already defined in the TextFormatter library used by Flarum.

To add new embeds, you can either create a new extension that registers additional embeds, or submit a pull request to add the embed to TextFormatter. There is currently no plan to have this extension register custom embeds or formatting tags.

A member on my forum is asking if it’s possible to bypass “embed” if desired? Like pasting many YouTube links and not wanting for them to become embedded videos but just stay as links.

I installed this extension but all my older Youtube links are not "embedded". It seems any youtube link posted after the plugin was installed is embedded, is this correct?

Also I am unsure what these options do or should I be enabling all of them?

Wellwisher older posts are not automatically enabled. You need to edit (modify at least one character) and save each post, or re-parse all posts with an extension. Unfortunately there's no publicly available extension that does this at this time as far as I'm aware.

Thanks for your help. I'm having an issue whereby it's not possible to embed private Soundcloud playlist links. When you post a private track, it displays an error in the post preview, but embeds successfully:

But when you embed a private playlist, it will not embed:

This same link can be embedded in my Wordpress site or in other forums, but won't work with Flarum. Any ideas?

si_edgey I remember this being discussed before. It's a limitation of the TextFormatter library used by Flarum.

I assume it performs some sort of "preflight" API request to Soundcloud to get information about the link and this probably fails, which in turn make the embed not load.

There's nothing we can do about it in this extension, this would have to be fixed in TextFormatter.

I've found an issue with MediaEmbed option and Youtube links embeding.

On the 0.1.4 version (which was the last version before upgrading my forum) all Youtube videos are embedding just fine, but since updating to 1.0.2 most of them reporting a "video unavailable" error.

EDIT:

The difference between working and non-working links is that non-working videos have some kind of a Licence added. But at the same time, they are all working on the previous version of the extension, as well as on the other places (tested on Facebook, Twitter...)

Everyone with iframe issues, you can probably fix them by changing your referrerPolicy configuration in Flarum config.php

There's unfortunately no universal answer. We should probably come up with a recommendation to paste in the README but the best setting for you will depend on which embeds you actually use and whether you need all features that those embeds provide. This is a privacy tradeoff.

For what it's worth, it's possible to selectively set the referrer policy on the iframe itself via the referrerpolicy attribute. You'd have to run something like that as an extension.
