I corrected my previous post from not ~~anymore valid informations~~ as the video where i showed the logout issue was caused by a line added in the .htaccess file for try to resolve other cache issue when post is deleted and page refreshed etc.

Still have the issue reported here sometimes you refresh the browser in a discussion than go on main page of the forum and see some content should be not be showed as is expired, old, no more existent. This post just to inform i solved the logout cache issue by removing the add on I try on .htaccess for made cache expire in 10 minutes.

I tried to reproduce in Flarum but without success

As i am not the only one to have this issue i opened an Issue on GitHub and made the video above.

peopleinside Your browser is caching the HTML that boots up Flarum, including old post data. When you reload, the old data is immediately displayed on the page. Only when you navigate away and back again is new data requested from the API.

We need to make sure your server is giving the right instructions to the browser to NOT cache that HTML/data.

Can you please post the contents of your .htaccess file?

Theoretically this line should be telling the browser what we want. But apparently it's not working 🤔

If you open up the Developer Tools in Chrome, go to the Network tab, and reload the page, what do you see under "Headers" for the initial document request?

Toby umh i use Firefox usually but i can do this test with Chrome.

peopleinside Sorry, forgot to say you need to click on the first row (the light blue one). Then you'll be able to see a Headers tab. Keep the Network tab open and go to the discussion where the problem is occurring, then reload. If it's reverted back to the old post data, then screenshot what's in the Headers tab, and that should give us some helpful information.

You can also do all of this in Firefox Developer Tools which are pretty similar. Up to you!

Reinstalled from scratch and still having the same issue. Guests can see pending posts, you are not redirected after starting a discussion + everything else I’ve mentioned above. I’m slowly starting to lose hope.

peopleinside We have already launched the forum, since everything worked fine in Beta 7. I only updated to Beta 8 because of the links not opening in new tabs in the previous version. It’s just all these new paths and folders. I’m not a developer and following the update guide isn’t enough I guess.

Victor12 i am not a developer too. I consider this is an open source project and so support can take sometime. I believe if you need a "premium" support maybe you can find a more fast help.

I understand you, can be stressful know there are an issue on a forum where users are surfing and creating content. Every software sometime have issue especially when you are new and you are using a beta.

You can consider to Sticky a post that alert users you are working for fixing issues... consider this can take sometime... we are person as Toby are, this is not a professional service with a professional dedicated support.

Regarding me ( i am in a different situation that yours as the only user in my community is me) i will wait. You can decide to wait also or don't know 🙂 maybe there are some commercial help or will be. I am sure someone will help us soon.

peopleinside The thing is, we already hired a developer and he managed to fix some major issues like the texts and badges constantly changing, etc. but couldn’t find a solution to the mentioned above guests seeing pending posts and members not being redirected to their discussions after posting.

I am aware of the fact that this is in beta and I do respect these guys for providing a quality software with nothing in return. It’s just a bit complicated for beginners and I need to go through the entire discussion forum here to find things which were not mentioned in the installation guide.

And notifying our users is a good idea, but not being able to start discussions is a major issue and we had to shut it down while I get some help. Yet some other unrelated questions are being asked here and mine got ignored.

Victor12 If you can made a video ( without share any data that cannot or you do not want share ) this can be helpful.
I am looking at the title of this discussion "A force-refresh fixes everything, temporarily" and this seems to be the same issue i have so the solution will be maybe look with the developers of Flarum when they are free.

Regarding issue on creating new post i don't have this, did you found other user that are experiencing issue on posting?
Today i am not too much well but maybe if you can share your website someone me or i don't know can look closer.

I tried Bazaar but discover in my case create only Flarum issues so i removed it an i use install from SSH composer at the moment.

You can try to do a near new Flarum install and try to migrate config.php , assets folder and maybe test if the issue persist. At the moment i have no idea on how to help. I had no posting issue on upgrading from Beta 7 to Beta 8

Same thing here. Never got this to work, so I just uninstalled it. I think it's mainly because I'm using a shared hosting and most of the people here don't. So obviously the issues are different. I just prefer a shared hosting, because of the immediate support they provide. I got help with MySQL issues, migrating, etc.

I already started from scratch on both my forums. Copied the config.php + assets folders from my backup as well as edited both index.php and the flarum executable, but there's something I'm missing. Moving all files inside the public directory to public_html might be causing some issues.

And do you use Discord? I don’t wanna overload the discussion.

matteocontrini Not only public, but with 412 active users. Until we had to update to Beta 8, which led to countless errors and had to shut it down, which affected our reputation. Risks of using a beta software, but it’s the only one we were happy with.

newbi3 Yes, this is a beta version and using it in production isn’t recommended.
