After three months a little update:

Started from scratch, to allow for a more scalable application.
Dropped favoriting for now.
Added both github and google single sign on, with easy way of adding more.
Created logic to identify Flarum related packages and a background task of syncing them hourly from packagist.
Full functionality added to see issues and milestones. And foremost allow pledging either one of these two types.
Added paypal as first payment provider, as they allow for creating reserved payments.

Still todo;

Add logic to identify who contributed most to solve an issue or finish a milestone. I plan to filter through all commits and contact the top N contributors to share the pledge with. This however is up to the backer, the backer can also decide to set the maintainers as the recipients of the pledge.
Hook into some form of support/issue system, as to minimize my workload.

Still thinking whether to add pledging/donating to packages in general. This will shift the platform away from award based crowdfunding into a donation service, which means another set of legal issues to deal with ?

If you read the above, what do you think? Any suggestions? I plan a closed testing phase within a few months, if interested please fill out this form.

Done:

Updated the production version with a FlarumExtension interpreter, which shows the icon of the package in the composer.json file.
Changed the color style a little to be less orange.
Added explanatory tooltips.
First functionality of proving ownership of packages is done, using the email address of your single sign on.
Fixed the paginator outside of the homepage.

Coming:

Implement full ownership features, so you can become a verified maintainer or contributor.

Just as a note, it's a bit broken on mobile.

And it throws an error when I try and open my social profile extension

Davis yes mobile is a second priority. Your package couldn't be loaded because github tells me your milestones api url is without a dash in your username on Github. Have to look into that, also have to add handling 404's (which happened in this case).

datitisev I noticed that too. Something is wrong with one of the queries somewhere. It jumps to 100% cpu on pageload.

Davis if browsing I'd personally prefer sorting by name. But I was about to make it sortable anyway ?

This is a wonderful initiative @luceos, like many of the other things you've brought to Flarum!

A suggestion - consider adding a last commit date or a last release date to each of your listings, along with the ability to sort with that information? This would allow us to discern which packages are being maintained by their owners.

Download counts are also a cool idea and would help to gauge popularity.

tarun thank you, those are certainly great considerations. For now, however, I need to focus on the functionality behind the scenes, before I keep working days on the frontend details. Once pledging, commit analysis and author informing work I'll get back to these items.

I have published the changes of version 0.1.0-dev.2, which contains the following:

Moving away from PayPal in favor of Stripe for both accepting as well as paying pledges.
Pledges page has been created as a first draft.
Github SSO now supports all portals, not just flarum.today.
Added several ui elements like tooltips on avatars.
Created a finite state machine to process author registration and pledges.
Added a failsafe to prevent mails from escaping development environments.
Added Stripe for Single Sign On.
Added Hyn fav icons.
Placed a loading bar at the top of the screen.
Updated font awesome.

Most of these features are not visible from the front end. Once I get to a version people can test I'll let you know.

Just a quick update. I've implemented functionality to claim ownership of packages by confirming e-mail addresses. Adding payments is going slower than anticipated, my efforts are still ongoing nevertheless.

These past few days I've increased my efforts to get to a release. As a result yesterday both @Toby and @Franz received the first e-mail from the application informing them about a pledge of a stunning 25 euro's. However I had to disappoint them as the e-mail was incorrectly send from the development environment and was meant as a test ?

Some of the changes I can mention:

author verification is implemented better.
the move to stripe is almost completed, just a few tweeks to make it better and it should work perfectly.
the state machines that are assisting in some processes are almost done, I'll be spending some time the coming days to put very valuable tests in place to guarantee it works as intended.
tonight I've played with deployer.org which resulted in a custom deploy script, as such new versions can and will be deployed towards production with zero downtime.
moved to PHP 7.
added a status dot on each author gravatar to indicate whether the author is also registered or not, in the future it will show online state as well.
author verification is completely done and leans on a generic verification token handler.

I'm considering moving more towards a Github issues driven development (open issue, fix, close etc), so development will be even more transparent.
