user1993 Thanks 😁 It is not possible to edit the OG and meta tags as they are linked to the discussion description and title. The page image fill be the favicon/logo by default. But that will be something that should be editable in the future 🙂

The default description of your site can be changed in the 'Basic' settings at the Admin panel.

JasperVriends do you load all the posts for a discussion? Google shows only five of them, so it wouldn't make much sense to extract more than that.

matteocontrini Yes, for now yes. Unfortuanately there is no such info about how many answers you need add on to the discussion at the Google Docs (and 5 is OK for all discussions with more answers) unless I missed something: https://developers.google.com/search/docs/data-types/qapage

I do not know if it affects the search results if I limit the posts of all discussions to 5 to index, but that is for sure something that we could considder. Google does also index all given posts by the way, so that is something usefull I think.

Another thing that might be worth investigating is to load the "answers" only when the HTTP user agent suggests that the navigator is a search engine bot, or Google directly. That would avoid loading unneeded information to users, although I can think of problems in detecting whether the client wants that information or not...

I was thinking about caching the discussion posts as json string and output that one (and reload and save that every day once per discussion). That will improve the loadtime I think, but will makes caching files instead.

Yeah I agree, but what about unknown bots. I don't think they all crawl the webpage with 'bot' as user agent ☹️ I hope they do though. Could be a great solution

They actually do, as far as I know. For example, Google advertises itself as "Googlebot". There are a lot of them, though, and not all of them have the word "bot" in it, but there are also open source lists of bot user agents that might be useful.

Yes I do, I think that is one of the better solutions. But I'm still brainstorming on this. Let's create a issue on Github, otherwise the Flarum forums will get spammed of this conversation 🙂

I'm having a Strange issue. The Extension works fine, but if I open a Post it loads fine, but if I refresh that Post I get bellow error:

iivanov Issue was reported on GitHub v17development/flarum-seo4 and has been fixed on the dev-master. As soon the new update launches it will be fixed for everyone! 🙂

Hi! I understand that this is not a priority at the moment, but is it possible to edit the Open Graph. When we share our forum on Facebook, all you can see is a blank image, which kinda ruins its reputation.

user1993 That's on the wish list 🙂

For now you can upload a favicon to flarum, then that image get automatically selected. You can do that by going to the Admin panel and go to the tab Appearance and upload an favicon (.png image).

But, I'll make sure for the next update that the extension won't add the image Open Graph if there is no favicon specified.

When this makes your forum slow, you can turn back to the default SEO and check if that helps. The only way (right now) is to go to your database, then the table settings, and add the key disable_fancy_discussion_seo with the value 1.

I just re-enabled the likes extension and am telling google to recrawl. We shall see if these warnings go away!

MikeJones looks like enabling the likes extension officially fixed my error in the google search console
