I have installed Beta 8.1 but can see no anti-spam measures include such as Akismet or any sort of Captcha, are these extensions downloadable anywhere as they appear no longer in core installation of Flarum beta 8.1

Blodeuwedd Akismet is no longer a bundled extension, but you can still install it with composer require flarum/akismet.

Sijad's ReCaptcha extension hasn't been updated for beta 8 yet. FriendsOfFlarum will most likely update it soon.

Blodeuwedd As David said, Akismet is no longer bundled with Flarum, you can, however, take a look at StopForumSpam that my group created 😉

To my knowledge, Flarum Discuss uses it for spam prevention itself.

For more drastic and additional measures of spam control when one or two spammers slip through the cracks, you can use this extension along side StopForumSpam:

How about blocking spam registrations?

Ralkage I already installed StopForumSpam via Flargrows list of entensions and was wondering if it would suffice my requirements.

Blodeuwedd add SpamBlock as well so you can get the extra benefits 🙂

This should meet your requirements as it checks if the email the user is using during the time of registration has any hits via the StopForumSpam database and then blocks them from registering depending on the threshold you set via extension settings.

Akismet will work in conjunction with the Flags and Approval extensions to halt detected spam posts from being viewable by non-mods/non-admins. Note that akismet requires a plan from akismet.com.

StopForumSpam will check usernames, IPs and emails for new registrations and block them if they have matching entries on StopForumSpam.com.

Spamblock will allow you to report users on your site as spammers to StopForumSpam.com, and delete all their posts/discussions.

This site uses all three to combat spam, and it works pretty well. There's some minimal work our mods have to do, but it has saved a lot of time, and we hope a lot of member annoyance.
