@DonaldLouch It sounds like your composer is installed locally.

Make sure you're in the public_html folder (where your composer.phar is located).

Then type php composer.phar create-project flarum/flarum /installation_folder/ --stability=beta

You shouldn't have permissions issues with mkdir unless you're in a locked directory. Make sure you're in public_html or one of its subdirectories.

Some mistakes i noticed in this thread:

jordanjay29 referring to installation directory starting with a / will try to install it in the root of the system. You won't have access to that folder and you shouldn't install your Flarum there anyway 😉 Use a relative path: installation_directory, full command

php composer.phar create-project flarum/flarum installation_directory --stability=beta

santiagobiali creating a directory beforehand is not necessary and will prevent the "not empty" issue. Simply run the above command for "installation_directory" to be created by composer. If the directory exists, you can remove it using:

rm -rf installation_directory

One other tip:

If you want to skip unnecessary development resources (and so disk space) append --no-dev to the command:

php composer.phar create-project flarum/flarum installation_directory --stability=beta --no-dev

None of those links helped Kulga! But thanks though!!!

I looked back at the error code and thought I've seen that setting for "fileinfo" before and then I looked in my PHP editor thing on my hosting and saw the option was unselected. So I selected it and then I did the first suggestion that luceos had!

It installed on my server! I have also moved it to the folder in which the domain that I am wanting is tied to it! I have also added the URL Rewriting code to the .htaccess!

However I am getting a 500 Internal Server Error now...

I am presuming where it says "/path/to/your/forum" you change it to where it is such as "/home/<username>/public_html/form"?

DonaldLouch enable debug (set false to true) in your config.php and check the error log of your site if you see no errors on the page after enabling debug mode.
