Hari FriendsOfFlarum mission is maintaining the existing extensions.
Adding new features or changing how an extension works is most often done through freelance contracts with one of the members directly. When the new features offer clear community benefit and don't impact the complexity of maintaining the extension too much, we integrate those new features back into the main extension, usually after consulting with the other members.
We do try to go through feature requests made by many people when we have some free time, but that's unlikely to happen until we're done with updating the extensions to beta 14, which is still far from finished at this time.
