purldator Topic thumbnail can be taken from topic icon as I suggested on top. Taking random image from first post can give random not pretty result. Not every image resized into thumbnail will be usable.
That's why I suggested two OPTIONAL image slots.
1. Topic cover (background)
2. Topic custom icon (it can be used as replacement of default author avatar)
Taking automatically every first image from first post, can made ugly, chaotic results.
If someone doesn't care about using separate images slots, then it indicate that topic should be treated like normal topic with regular author avatar. My idea was for users that CARE about topic presentation. Not random junk. There are tons of messy software, Flarum is build to be powerful and simple perfection. With powerful core extensions if someone need them. Using first frontend image can be used as options parameter or as different extension.
Anyway, either @Toby or @Franz not reply in this topic. So we don't know what they think about icon/cover idea.
