Gravatar Extension

Hey all,

I've developed a new simple extension for Gravatar integration.
It gets automatically from gravatar.com the user's avatar (if doesn't has already one saved in the Flarum database) or will fallback to a default avatar that can be set from extension options.

To install just use composer:

composer require smachi/flarum-gravatar

Would it be possible to add a field to the settings to select one of gravatar's default options for the default avatar?

Just need to add a parameter to the url ?d= and set it to one of mm, identicon, monsterid, wavatar, retro or blank.

Any chance you can add a feature for requiring Gravatar. User avatars can sometimes take up a large sum of space.

Thanks for the extension, I have some issues regarding default gravatar image for users who do not have any.
Would you mind if I ask you to check that for me?

Default image URL goes to "https://support.mypreview.one/extensions/smachi-gravatar/default-avatar.png" which obviously does not exists at all!
I have uploaded a default png image (default-avatar.png) to the assets folder and inserted the correct path to the default image field but still, ended up with a broken image link.

mahdiyazdani this extension is built for an older version of Flarum. The extensionsfolder has since been dropped, which is why it doesn't exist.

I've marked the extension abandoned as per our policy.

So I modified the source to make this extension work on Beta 6.

I feel like I am stealing someones work, but in all honesty I just want this extension to be available and to work as intended.

0E800 it's MIT licensed so as long as you preserve the copyright in the files, which I see you have, it's not theft or misappropriation. Don't worry about it.

Not working as expected, too many loading requests and issues while browsing the forum as a guest user.
I am willing to pay for a developer who might be interested in working on this extension.

mahdiyazdani "It didn't work" isn't much to go on, sorry. Did you try the extension I linked? It is different from the ones further up in the thread and solves the issue of Avatars not being displayed in discussion listings.

Of course I did, I knew this extension nearly from day one!
First, you can NOT install this using the latest version of the flarum since the version requirements limited to the beta 6 and needs an update on this.

I had this on beta 6 and had the similar problem as mentioned above.
(Not working while you are not logged-in)

mahdiyazdani Sorry, I haven't logged in the forum here for a while, so I am not sure if my reply is still helpful for you.

That plugin was developed for a forum that I am maintaining (<https://d.cosx.org/>, in Chinese), and it seems to work well on the website. The forum system has already been updated to beta 7.1, and I don't see apparent problems for the gravatar. Let me know if you still need help on this issue.

Eh, my site doesn't allow public use. I only modified this extension so that it would work in its current form.
There are extensions that make a user create an account in order to reply.
I guess this is one of those extensions that a user has to create an account in order to see gravatars.
Its not very mission critical IMO.
