DeepGlue Not hard at all if you follow the steps on this page of Flarum and read up on the many discussions here surrounding installations. You will need to use Composer as well. The forum here is in case you get stuck and need to overcome any obstacles or issues you encounter.

Can Flarum be easily embedded for commenting on a website? Could I use the freeflarum version by any chance too ? Flarum seems perfect for embedding on websites. Has anyone done this? Or this is still under development etc? I am a Business Consultant. Do you guys need a business model? Let me know:

DeepGlue Flarum is still beta, they will focus on make the core stable and fluid, after that they will focus on some other stuff, but Flarum is extendable (idk if thats the best word) and u can make some implementations and share with other via free or paid extensions!

Say I have a flarum forum hosted on a vps.

And I have a static HTML website. I want to embed this full flarum forum right below a static page like a a commenting and forum section.

Is this possible without too much effort?

DeepGlue if you want to embed a specific existing discussion on a static page, it's as simple as adding an iframe with the correct src.

If you need discussions created automatically for each article/page of your website (to enable comments on each new blog post for example) you'll need to write additional code.

Basically I like muut.com’s integration of commenting and forum. It’s quite under appreciated. As comments on one page automatically appear in a forum you can link elsewhere.

Only Problem is they put their logo and brand just about anywhere.

What would it cost to take the flarum source code and do a bit of what muut does.
Preferably only Using purely HTML, css, us because static sites are becoming more and more attractive thanks to website builders.

Both for my immediate needs and as a viable startup in the future.

DeepGlue as mentioned above Flarum already allows to embed an already existing discussion through the embed extension. The API also allows to easily create a new discussion programmatically. Not exactly a commenting solution but not far from it either.

DeepGlue I did implement it with a private website back on beta 7 so people could comment on profiles and events of the main website. I don't think I can share any code though.

My implementation was creating discussions "on demand" because there were so many existing things to comment on I didn't want to create an empty discussion for each one. There was a button on each page to "start a discussion". When clicked, it would make a call to my backend that use a Flarum Api Key to create the new discussion as a bot account, then the ID of the discussion would be saved in the profile/event/page data on the main website. Then the iframe would be rendered using that discussion ID in the src.

It has not seen much usage overall but there were no issues during the time it was used.

Let’s say we had to sponsor a project that uses the flarum code base and creates a product that anyone can directly use for their website to get blogging, commenting and a forum going Social Network style. Muut is an example and so is plush forums.

How many months would it take for a small team
What would it cost?
Taking this further if we had to basically rewrite a new social network like Facebook with the flarum base would that be possible and is that technologically at the same level as Facebook ?

My initial judgement is that the costs are low compared to the expected returns.
