tankerkiller125 Yeah, it seems to work fine. Someone did send me an email saying that they think this extension conflicts with the formatter extension, but only with Medium website embeds. And only certain Medium embeds, not all. Which is super odd.

But, even if that’s true, not being compatible with another extension isn’t necessarily a reason for it to be marked incompatible either. Plus, I haven’t had a chance to test to see if this person is right. So if anyone wants to install this, and the formatter extension, and embed some Medium site posts and see if there’s a conflict, that’d be very nice of you!

Hi, my composer box caught an error and stopped working after activating hashtags.
purify.min.js” was blocked due to MIME type (“text/html”) mismatch (X-Content-Type-Options: nosniff)

Solaris Most likely this is a conflict with another extension or your set up. Or an odd cache issue. I just did a test post at my forum and it works fine as you can see below:

But, I don’t think the purify JavaScript is really needed and so if I find some extra time sometime soon, I’ll remove that part which may solve your issue.

2.0 Released

Removed the assets folder and the unnecessary purify.js code. This will help the extension be more compatible and install more easily without having to do any manual tweaking.
Due to the fact that this simply looks for words that start with "#" I'm sure there will still be a conflict or two with certain extensions if they too look for "#" or inject "#" into posts.
2.0 is now just 52 lines of code and 1.86 KB.

First time installing? Just use the standard install command composer require zerosonesfun/hashtags.

Updating? Use the standard update command but also, if you want, you can do a little clean up. Previous versions added to your public assets folder a JavaScript file. That is no longer needed. Go to public_html > assets > extensions and delete the zerosonesfun-hashtags folder. Your set up may not start with public_html, but hopefully you get the idea.

[deleted] There isn’t anything to change. This is now just one extend.php file. It’s not pointing to any other files. I don’t see why it wouldn’t work for you. If it’s not working try emptying caches.

Hi, is possible to get list (links) to the hashtags? Because I'm looking for an extension to add date to a thread, and I have thought maybe to add a hashtag in the title, to show date of expiration.

For example. Title: Contest XYX #06/06/2020

And then I search for all threads with this hashtag (date of expiration).

Or maybe will I have a disaster, with 50000000 hashtags? :/

That is correct. This is about as simple as a hashtag extension can get. It looks for a “#” and turns the following word into a link which searches the forum when clicked.

I think the regular expression used is beautiful because I’ve seen very few cases where it does not work and it’s a very short regular expression. It’s pretty cool.

So, a more experienced developer could use the regular expression and some of the JavaScript from this extension, and then do whatever needs to be done to ensure the hashtag is logged in the database and that popularity is tracked. It’d be a “next level” extension for Flarum. We have mentions. Why not have a full Twitter like hashtag system?
