Hi, is possible to get list (links) to the hashtags? Because I'm looking for an extension to add date to a thread, and I have thought maybe to add a hashtag in the title, to show date of expiration.

For example. Title: Contest XYX #06/06/2020

And then I search for all threads with this hashtag (date of expiration).

Or maybe will I have a disaster, with 50000000 hashtags? :/

That is correct. This is about as simple as a hashtag extension can get. It looks for a “#” and turns the following word into a link which searches the forum when clicked.

I think the regular expression used is beautiful because I’ve seen very few cases where it does not work and it’s a very short regular expression. It’s pretty cool.

So, a more experienced developer could use the regular expression and some of the JavaScript from this extension, and then do whatever needs to be done to ensure the hashtag is logged in the database and that popularity is tracked. It’d be a “next level” extension for Flarum. We have mentions. Why not have a full Twitter like hashtag system?

huuduy216 Unless you deactivated it, it’s not loading. There would be some JavaScript at the end of you site’s source code. Try deactivating and reactivating and delete all caches and cookies. Do you use Cloudflare or anything else which could be caching?

Also try php flarum cache:clear.

Version 2.1 released

Now this extension works no matter where your forum is installed out of the box with no manual changes. Thanks to @JasperVriends letting me know that app.forum.attribute('baseUrl') gets the forum's base URL.

Yes, I updated the cache by all means, cleaned the browser, turned the extension on and off.
But the text after the #symbol is also text.
How can you get the extension to work?

Aleram You have a space after the hashtag. You cannot have a space.

Aleram Google was auto translating it to English and when it did that a space was added. But I see now that in Russian there are no spaces. I’ll take a look at the code.

Aleram Ok. I figured out a better regular expression. An update is coming soon. This extension will soon work with ALL languages.

Compatible with all Unicode (all languages)
Ignores punctuation
Ignores hashtag if something precedes it (which helps to avoid html and markup conflicts)
Minus the readme, license, and composer file, only about 1.85kb (I'm betting for example that this is way more lightweight than however Twitter does it, but this still gets the job done minus the trend tracking of course)
Caveat: This will only work in the latest and greatest browsers because it uses the latest allowed JavaScript Regular Expression tags/shortcuts in order to be able to work with all languages. It works for me in the latest versions of Chrome, Safari, and Firefox.

To update you may try the regular update command (see first post of this thread), but sometimes depending on caches and other factors that does not work for me personally. You may instead deactivate and remove the old version completely using composer remove zerosonesfun/hashtags and then reinstall with composer require zerosonesfun/hashtags. Then of course reactivate the extension. 🙂

Thanks for the effort!
I had installed older (previous) version, which worked fine. Upgraded to newest version, cleared cache - hashtags are not working (word with # is not linked to anything). Also removed older version, installed new one, but still nothing. Are there any additional options (beside installation and activation)?
