For those who don't know, BAT (Basic Attention Token) is a cryptocurrency developed by the creator of Javascript and the co-founder of Mozilla.
Pulled directly from Basicattentiontoken.org:
"Basic Attention Token radically improves the efficiency of digital advertising by creating a new token that can be exchanged between publishers, advertisers, and users. It all happens on the Ethereum blockchain.
The token can be used to obtain a variety of advertising and attention-based services on the BAT platform. The utility of the token is based on user attention, which simply means a person’s focused mental engagement."
I think a built-in system that allows Flarum forum contributors to award each other for quality posts would be the cherry on top of Flarums already innovative design and features.
This could be implemented in a manner similar to Reddits medal system except instead of 100% going toward the site, it can be a customizable amount set by the sites owner and a small portion is shared with the Flarum development team.
Example:
User A creates a quality post.
User B clicks Award button in Flarum and pays a set amount of BAT to give User A a "Medal".
User A then gets a "Medal" on his post plus 90% of the medals BAT value. The site owner gets 9% of the value from the medal and Flarum receives the other 1%.
The Awards can be completely customizable in appearance and BAT value by the websites owner.
This is just an example case but I think this would be a great way for Flarum to further differentiate itself from the competition and create cashflow for the Flarum team to continue development on the project.
Do you guys think this would be possible?
