A long-awaited feature has finally arrived to Flarum thanks to the hard work put in by @datitisev, the ability for you to use our very own demo instance of Flarum!

As Flarum becomes a more popular first choice for new forums we wanted to give you the ability to trial the software so you can see exactly what features and benefits Flarum can offer to you and your community.

Latest version demo: https://demo.flarum.site
Latest unstable code demo (dev-master): https://nightly.flarum.site

The welcome banner will contain the date of the latest Flarum update.

We would love to hear your thoughts! If you have any questions or concerns please don't hesitate to raise them in this discussion after reading through some frequently asked questions below.

Why should I use the demo?

The demo will be a means for you to test out Flarum using only core extensions. You will be able to create accounts, create discussions and post replies, add or modify tags, change settings, etc. Better yet, it is a completely free service provided by us so you will always know you are using the latest Flarum software.

What's the difference?

  • The demo is the current and tagged release. This is the version you would use if you installed it through our recommended and documented installation guide.
  • The nightly demo consists of changes contained in the upcoming release. This version can be unstable; meaning it might misbehave, cause errors or may not even work at all. We aim to keep the nightly demo (dev-master) as stable as possible, however sometimes we merge things that aren't well tested yet. 😇

What restrictions are there?

  • Mail has been completely disabled.
  • Some settings and user admin have been blocked from being changed.
  • Additional extensions cannot be installed.

Things to consider...

  • Signing up will confirm your email address automatically.
  • Demos are reset regularly every night.
  • Signing up with any email address starting with admin or mod will grant you that permission group automatically. For example, admin@admin.com or mod@mod.com. It can be totally fake, you just need the admin@ part.
  • Do NOT use a real email address when signing up. This is a prevention measure as anyone will be able to look up your email address via an administrator account.

Again, a huge thank you to @datitisev for this new feature and if you require any support, have any questions or want to clarify something please do so in this discussion only. You do not need to create a separate discussion. Enjoy! 🙂

Great Job ! I appreciate the design and the UX of Flarum and when I meet Flarum I was searching a forum board based on Laravel and goggle leaded me here.

brian85 I found flarum the same way after looking into laravel options to integrate with another app. Bounced around forums since last I remember IPB 5 and this has been one of the more interesting ones to work with for sure.

Apologies for the recent issues with the Nightly demo being unavailable folks! Many thanks to the community for letting us know about this, and also to @luceos for resolving the issue.

I have just moved the demos to the same digital ocean account where discuss and the site are hosted, while immediately improving the deployment procedure using Forge. DNS is still resolving and no SSL certificate has been installed on the new location. Please note this impacts the demos the coming hours (max 24 hours).

Edit: Never mind, both are updated, resolved and have an SSL certificate.

Hello dear support. If i try to login to demo and enter to login more than letters like LOLOLO@mail.com that it is stuck. And i have close and reopen to login.
And second. It is impossible to register on your site(current site) with github authorization. It just stucks without any redirects. And i have to sign up old fashioned way.

        Another screen

We haven't added OAuth to the demos. Those extensions were most likely enabled by someone when they were playing around with the demo.

This is a bug caused by fof/sentry, which is installed in our forums to report front-end and back-end errors that users find. It will get stuck if you enter invalid details that do not sign you up or log you in successfully.

I was refering to this site, not demo. https://discuss.flarum.org/d/21101-demos-come-to-flarum/40 i was stuck logining with github here.

Thank you for your prompt responses.!!! So on simple forum install it will work flawlessly?

//additional question. Is there a way to write responses in visual editing style right away? without seeing bold text as dots

and i am following this thread. Why didn't i get an email notification?

Open a new discussion in the Meta tag, this is not the place to get support for discuss.flarum.org, and I can't split out your post without removing the demo-specific issue from this thread.

Same for your other questions (Support tag for general Flarum questions). I appreciate your enthusiasm, but we want to keep this discussion about the Demo sites.
