group_user_user_id_foreign error on beta 8 to beta 9 update

I have a problem when update from beta8 to beta9:

Something went wrong: SQLSTATE[HY000]: General error: 1005 Can't create table `flarum`.`#sql-30ac_4` (errno: 121 "Duplicate key on write or update") (SQL: alter table `group_user` add constraint `group_user_user_id_foreign` foreign key (`user_id`) references `users` (`id`) on delete cascade)

imbyter this is odd because no user_id column should be added by the b8 to b9 migration.

When does this error happen ? In the UI after entering your database password after the update ? Or did you run migrate via the command line ?

Can you share the list of extensions or modifications made to your forum ?

Ideally if you could share the php flarum info from before starting the migration, or the old composer.json content.

I'm splitting this to a new support discussion so it doesn't get lost under here.

The problem I encountered when I was using browser to install, that is after I input base information, it jump to a new page to remind me to 'update database', then i input my mysql password and this problem has arisen.

Now I use command line to install and it works well .

The error does not relate to a column being added, but a constraint, see:

alter table `group_user` add constraint `group_user_user_id_foreign

The underlying issue is unsettling though:

Can't create table flarum.#sql-30ac_4 (errno: 121 "Duplicate key on write or update")

I can think of a few reasons this might exist. imbyter can you post here, what:

the column type is of users.id and group_user.user_id
whether any duplicate entries for the same user exist of group_user (which shouldn't matter)
the last entry in migrations based on the date the migration file is prefixed with

luceos I find when I use browser to install, my mysql database only have 15 tables, and when i use commandline to install, it has 24 tables, maybe this is the problem

imbyter that sounds like a database permission issue. Did you change database user/password halfway through?

no I did not change is halfway. I think maybe migration hasn't be finished when page install ? Sleep time not enough ?

imbyter yeah that might be an issue, try using the cli command php flarum migrate -vvv
