Drilling-Billy In fact, our developers barely spend time on here. And for good reason, myself and my team of moderators spend time here specifically to let our devs focus on development.
Maybe you can point out some places where you've seen excessive dev involvement? Our devs are far less active on the forums than last year (when Toby was out of school to work on Flarum) and only occasionally get involved as far as I can see. If they have to get involved, it's either something beyond my (or the other moderators') level of knowledge, or a failure on my part.
Honestly, I think I do good work. And I think what input you see by devs is of their own choosing, not because they have to get involved due to a lack of other resources. I am that resource, the other moderators are that resource, and we're here to help folks who need help without wasting development time.
