currently, this filter option is limited to tags or secondary tags. it would be nice if this feature is available for all discussions on the home page.

I think it should indeed affect all discussions if no tag is selected, like Hari says.

Consequently the Solved/Unsolved filter should appear on the front page as well.

rhaghani have you enabled "Enable Best Answers to be set in this tag" under the tag that you would allow best answer to work under by any chance?

My forum is having an issue when marking an answer as the best answer.
The problem is that when you mark it, its width is greatly reduced, so that it does not provide a good user experience.

Notes:

Forum with RTL interface.
Forum hosted on Flarum

When I set "Select own post" to false, I as an admin cannot mark my post despite not being the OP. When this setting is enabled, I can select my posts. None of this is about the OP but the "current account" it seems.

User39 yeah, I also spotted this a couple of days ago. It's an issue with the permissions setup, I've started to work on a fix for this and I'll push an update as soon as it's ready

Almost hate to post this, because I dont have much info to share.

Installed this extension, turned it on, and it seemed to have no effect. The new link/buttons didnt show to select a best answer in forum posts.
Continued to install other extensions. (This is on a new install by the way)
Installed emojionearea next.
After doing a few other things... the forum suddenly broke completely.

php log showed nothing, nginx log showed nothing, web console showed nothing.
flarum debug was ON.

I uninstalled emojionearea and everything remained broke. Cache clear. Still broke.

After pulling my hair out for a few hours, started removing extensions from the command line using composer, one by one. Cleared flarum cache after every uninstall and hit refresh.

Once I removed the BEST ANSWER extension, everything started working again.

Again, sorry I dont have any more clues to provide, but something funky going on.
Broke my forum in a way that made it nearly impossible to debug.

jost were you able to try a different browser? Sometimes Chrome and Firefox don't log the exact same things to their developer console (for example).

Did you check the Flarum log file at <flarum>/storage/logs ?

It seems for discussion that are associated with multiple tags, each tag needs to have the permission to select a best answer. Is there a way to make it so selecting a best answer is allowed as soon as one tag allows it?

My use case is this:
We have tags that are specific to products (you can think of them as the products of the MS Office suite, word, excel, etc.). People can post discussions here for things that may be news, tips, etc. We also have a tag "Please help me" that mostly receives questions looking for a best answer. These questions discussions can also be tagged with the product they relate to. Right now, it seems we are forced to allow for best answer selection in all tags (and therefore all discussions) where we would like to have a setting to allow for it as soon as one or more tag is allowing such selection.

Any assistance will be greatly appreciated.

It seems under 8.1, the behavior now matches my use case. I do not know if that means the extension has a bug under php 7.4 or if the behavior I describe is itself unexpected and all tags should have the feature enabled for it to be visible in the discussion.

As it is now, I'm ok with it.

It seems the extension has a privilege issue. I tested the following on this thread: https://lepointdarret.com/public/d/50-calculer-le-nombre-de-jours-entre-deux-dates

The admins and moderators are able to see the button that would let them select an answer as best. That said, the OP is unable to do so himself. The forum permission settings clearly show that members should be able to select a best answer on their own discussions.

My forum currently uses the Best Answers extension, but in a newly created discussion that has no answer, it throws an error like the image below.

Error: acceptedAnswer or suggestedAnswer must be specified.
