The problem with this is that your changes are going to be overwritten by any pending update unless this setting is added to the extension by the developers.

[deleted] I recommend you fork Sticky instead, change the namespace to your own name, and apply your preferred change. The Sticky behavior here is intended for Flarum, and it's license allows forks for exactly reasons like these.

jordanjay29 why you dont add extra choice button etc. ? I think this force user to use just one method. Providing flexibility in current extension without adding another extension(there are too much extension in system 😃 ) may be better.

Is there a cleaner way to do this? I also want "standard" stickys but don't fancy changing code which may break stuff later.

The sarcasm isn't necessary here. You can make use of the Flag feature on each post if you're in doubts about whether a post belongs in a particular discussion, too. That will alert mods and we'll take care of it as needed.
