notakoder There seems to be two parts to this.
For new discussions (or moderating them), you can type tag names in the Choose Tags modal, allowing you to find them by name.
For browsing discussions, there have been discussions before on a different structure for the main page (or even the Tags page) to allow large forums that need lots of categorization like this. There was an extension by ReFlar called Koseki that did this, but it was unstable and is no longer developed. I agree that the community seems to strongly want something like this, you're definitely not alone.
As far as searches of Tags themselves in the search bar, this could probably be added by extension, sure.
