@luceos support UTF-8 isn't an issue only for Asian people, is also an issue for a lot of countries (Europe, Latin America, etc...). I said that many times arround, but once again it was fully ignored or moved to the forgotten issues.

How many times was discussed arround or at GitHub issues with slugs or usernames?

Some people requested only slugs with the numeric post_id and others requested transliteraion. With users... who knows... isn't something easy to fix.

Happy to see that after some years it caugth your attention again.

Moving forward on making our open collective its own fiscal host, reducing fees and pushing funds directly to the Foundation.
Gave a shot at ignoring translation files for extensions not installed flarum/core1954
Worked on an agreement for a vendor allowing use of our logo/name. @katos took over and made the document a masterpiece.
Reviewed the PR by our trainee flarum/core1952. Starting with a fairly simple issue, he nevertheless surprised us by delivering so fast and such well written code; great job @tankerkiller125 🤟

CaijiOrz Currently the focus is on getting the core to stable for extension developers, this means that work on general features are not currently prioritized. Also it was noted in other discussion here on these forums that Avatars are resized using the Intervention image library which does not support animated GIFS, most likely GIF support would need to come from a third party extension.

hello, first of all thanks for such a flarum. But my opinion is that the stable version is now available.

RecepBilgin The user UI is for the most part stable, however the extension development side is not. This is why Flarum is still marked as Beta as every update pushed brings the possibility of breaking extensions.

worked with @katos on a contract for @Franz to work on flarum part time starting coming year. I'm so stoked this is already possible!
finalized making the collective it's own fiscal host, we're now fully in charge of that money and we'll keep using open collective for transparency. No platform and less payment processor fees.
prepared for a trip with Franz to giffgaff in London in March for consulting and a Flarum related community event 🎉.

[deleted] giffgaff is hosting a flarum hackaton for their community in a small setting on a Saturday in March. We're still debating whether to get one or two tickets for people from our own community, if you'd be interested do reply! The idea is to have a day where teams will build an extension supported by giffgaff community developers, Franz and myself. Food, drinks and entertainment will be provided for.

adminsw The beta is stable for general use at this time, the beta part about Flarum is it's extension API which is under heavy construction at this time. However if you look under the showcase tag you'll see a ton of people are already running flarum in production (including me).

It's been a while since I posted here... 🙊 ...but this is bound to happen more often now. 🙌

Thanks to our generous sponsors, I will now be paid to work on Flarum one day a week, which is awesome. Yesterday was my first day in the virtual Flarum office, and after chatting with Daniel, I proceeded to do the following:

Worked on further set up of our Tidelift account, which offers "managed open source" for companies using Flarum. For us, it is another source of income.
Went through tickets and pull requests, provided feedback.
Planned out the details of getting to London. And back before Brexit. 😁

For the next weeks, my first priority will be moving us closer to stable, which means tackling issues slated for beta.12, especially finishing off the PHP extension API.

We're now officially available through Tidelift, our next source of income for sustainable development. Tidelift offers subscriptions to companies and in return provides managed open source using three elements:

Tools: give transparent access to companies about issues, releases etc.
Management: guaranteeing secure and accurately licensed code which is actively maintained.
Maintainers: ensure that a network of maintainers (the Flarum core team) is paid to proactively resolve issues and continue development.

For this to work we've assigned @Franz to spearhead these efforts. Now that the Foundation has signed the agreements with Tidelift, we have somewhere to direct companies requiring this level of certainty.
