Quick Q, is the intent for Flarum to remain indefinitely OSS? I am researching for a non-profit community of 7,000 members, and we would like to implement a 5yr solution. Flarum looks good - we just don't want to invest in the platform for it to become another SaaS after a year or two...

andyro yes Flarum will remain FOSS!

If we ever consider any commercialization, it will be through paid extensions, a saas (in addition to the community edition) or through additional services. The original product will not be affected.

There is an extension called Flagrow Upload. It allows you to use attachments / files of various formats.

Thanks meetdilip. Dreamhost is asking if a Flarum install needs sudo/admin access. Per: "Flarum is not officially supported by DreamHost - https://help.dreamhost.com/hc/en-us/articles/217141627

but you may try that. unfortunately, if that requires a sudo/admin access, that would not be possible on your shared hosting plan. but yes, you have SSH access"

andyro flarum by itself does not require sudo/admin access. It needs composer and that might be restricted to sudo/admins, which would be terribly odd.

Whoopsie, totally forgot to post my log from what I did last Friday. Here it comes...

Most importantly, I went through lots of open pull requests.
I finished up @datitisev's PR for better handling of incomplete mail settings.
Closed stale PRs and extracted the good parts.
Came up with a realistic plan of attack for better and customizable generation of discussion slugs (transliteration).
Finished and merged PRs that just needed a little bit of work.

Beyond all that, I have been going through the list of issues and PRs that were marked as "stale" last week - for some of them, this label is/was legitimate, for others we have several ways to keep them around even if they're old. This is an ongoing process and I'm about 30 % done.

Atom sized update from my end. I'm pretty busy preparing my new house for it to become a home in a months time. The little time I had is used primarily to pitch in organizationally, last night I also made minor progress on my one Work In Progress PR ~~to rule them all~~.

We're making great progress for beta 12 and I am confident we're able to tag the version on schedule.

Today was Feature Friday. At least I got a few nice, new features merged. 😀

Merged and cleaned up several improvements to the Flags extension, contributed by our friends at Giffgaff.
Merged @datitisev's pull request which adds helpful status and error messages to the mail settings page.
Merged another nice contribution from @datitisev - post throttling (the "floodgate") can now be bypassed for certain user groups, e.g. admins.
I followed up on some documentation tickets.
Fixed a small JavaScript bug that we found using Sentry (thanks for sponsoring a free license!).
Went through the list of stale pull requests, followed up on them, closed or delegated them.
Our tests will now be run on PHP 7.4 as well - which will be fully supported by the upcoming beta.12 release.
Last but not least, I started experimenting with integration tests for our extender API. These are super important, because they will guarantee that our public APIs for extensions will remain stable in the future.

Beta.12 is coming together nicely - we will definitely release something nice in early March. Thanks to all our sponsors for making this effort possible!

Please welcome our newest core developer @tankerkiller125. We invited him last year to do a test run as trainee. Now over two months later, we're assured that we've found a reliable new team member in him. I'm glad for him to accept our invitation, to invest in Flarum and I am stoked to see what our future brings with him!
