Hi, i was looking for a laravel based packages for a forum and that's how i found flarum. This forum "cms" (or actually in fact a cms?) looks really interesting and currently i'm testing it on localhost. Community looks to be pretty active too which makes me feel safe about future of flarum.
I see it is built with laravel (lumen?) 5.7 and i wonder if you are going to upgrade to newer version, at least to latest LTS release? That would be 6.x branch. Or maybe do you plan to switch directly to 7.x or 8.x when this one will be released?
As i mentioned for now i'm testing flarum on localhost so i gave a try to just updating packages to their latest versions (edited composer.json by replacing versions number and executed composer install) and after such update installation of flarum on localhost went fine, forum seems to be working ok.
As i am fairly fresh to laravel (i do not know how much different is lumen if that's what flarum uses) i'm used to its default files and folders structure. Where can i find info on which files and directories are laravel's counterparts in flarum? For example i would like to switch password hashing method to argon2. In laravel to do that i would go to config/hashing.php. Or what in here is a counterpart to laravel's .env file?
Also, how to properly run a flarum application? I have installed lamp on ubuntu and how i access flarum on localhost is by going to its public folder. Does flarum use something similar to laravel's php artisan serve command?
So far to me flarum looks interesting but from what i've read so far it doesn't have options for proper integration with existing laravel applications which is a bit of letdown to me as i would like in future to use flarum with few applications i'm working on right now. If flarum can't be integrated what similar packages would you recommend for forum to integrate with existing laravel application? I'm looking for something as feature rich as flarum and compatible with as new laravel versions as possible.
If anyone thinks these questions are dumb/silly/whatever then sorry, it is first laravel based application i want to use and maybe modify, so far i was only writing my own code in laravel from scratch so i knew perfectly where is what and what and how it does :-)
