For some reason, Extiverse is only showing premium extensions

@luceos When I run composer update, I get this error:

I don't even have this extension, so it's probably a problem with Extiverse

Okay after some extended research I discovered the cause coming from an incorrect flarum/core dependencies. I've resolved this with the author of the extension and finally found a way to prevent this from happening again.

@iPurpl3x reported that all non-premium extensions aren't indexed. I'm looking into it.

Edit A database problem caused the sync to fail. The sync was restarted not too long ago and the extension index has been restored.

Hello @luceos Sir Exitverse is returning 500 Internal Server Error on searching.

Mark73 Yeah now it's working! Before it was returning 500 error

Extiverse is currently listing only premium extensions. It has had issues the past few weeks with errors during searches which I resolved this week. This instability with extiverse is not something I'm proud of, but I have lacked the time to look into it. Right now I'm also not behind a PC to reinstate the index to include the open source extensions.

My apologies for this hickup. I'm hoping to fix the index somewhere this weekend. Next week I'll look into the stability issues again.

Juba007 yeah monitoring just let me know the same thing and I confirmed an empty resultset. Before I could investigate it was back online. I will be looking deeper at things the coming weeks, because something has become extremely unstable in this stack.

So right now there are three issues that I know of with high priority:

        • Occasionally all open source extensions are missing.
        • Sometimes the index throws a 500 error.
        • Searching throws a 500 error.

The coming days I'll be looking at all of these. But just so you know that I am aware about the problems with Extiverse.

        Edit: search fixed.

A person asked me a couple of questions about buying an extension on Extiverse and asked me one that I didn't know how to answer, it hadn't crossed my mind until now, it's regarding subscription types.

He asked me if there is a way to prove the type of license you have (standard or extended), I've been looking around Extiverse in active subscriptions and purchase receipts but I can't find it anywhere, does this exist somewhere?

Darkle this information isn't readily available to subscribers it seems, I'll update both the email and subscriptions page as soon as I can.
In the meantime this information can be requested through me.

luceos Ok cool, apparently he's pretty strict with all the licensing stuff, I'll let him know. Thanks for the info!

A great improvement to the platform would be the ability to add reviews/comments to the extension. It shouldn't be used as a place to seek help but instead to express your opinion and suggest improvements which can be read by the author.

While Extiverse isn't an official part of Flarum, it would be an amazing QoL to be able to login with your Flarum account. At the moment the extension site doesn't look much like Flarum at all, none of the recognisable elements are present, not even the branding colour. It doesn't have to be a clone of this forum however it should invoke the feeling "Oh, this is clearly for Flarum." when looking at the design.

The most prominent example of an extension site that I like would have to be MyBB's Extend, perhaps you could take some inspiration from what they've done? MyBB Extend. Everything is laid out very clearly and you haven't got to guess what the icons mean.

You've done a great job with the site so far but I do believe there are improvements that could made to make it even more impressive.

I removed this after a period of 6 months. Hardly any reviews were written, were of very low quality or obviously done for a friend developer.

A redesign is planned. A dedicated homepage clarifying the purpose of extiverse as well.

Thank you! Extiverse is a huge time sync and it doesn't break even yet. I've been working on extiverse off and on in the little free time I have left next to all other obligations. Premium extensions have been the motivation to get started with it, and by itself that feature is already quite demanding in maintenance. I've also been working on several other features, so design hasn't received the attention it deserves. It will come though.

I spent some time today envisioning a design that used Flarum's branding colour, while this isn't perfect and is rather rough around the edges, here's my two concept images. Hopefully it will aid in some inspiration for somebody when redesigning Extiverse.

Was made with TailwindCSS in a couple of hours. 🙂

User11 really like the design, feels synonymous with the Flarum branding, and very familiar.
And with tailwind would be easy to add a dark mode function also.

Interested to see what @luceos would think 😀
