In the lead-up to beta 6, we want to be more transparent about what we're working on. In that spirit, starting today (April 1), we'll be announcing an upcoming feature on the forum every Friday.
One of the most useful features in other forum software is signatures. Signatures are a great way for users to express themselves inline with the discussion content, and break up what may be a “serious” or “productive” conversation with little tidbits of fun.
Signatures have always been on our roadmap as a default extension, but let’s be honest — who in their right mind would want to turn them off? So we’ve decided to make signatures a required core feature to save everyone a bit of trouble.
Flarum’s implementation of signatures is pretty special. We’re including an innovative mechanism that detects the height of your signature as you enter it. If it falls below 500px (approximately half the height of the average screen), then your account is suspended and you won’t be allowed to post until you correct your mistake. Since big walls of text are pretty boring, we’re enforcing that a minimum number of images be included too. At least one of them must be an animated GIF to boost engagement.
This will all be available in the next beta release. We can't wait either!
