Right now is there anyway to disable signature? Sometimes I feel signatures are distracting and deviates from the subject. Just read this discussion in mobile. Instead of reading, you have to scan( or search) for the discussion.

Having a signature as core feature is cool. I like the idea. But some of the requirements are too much, like 500px height. If everyone is replying with a single line of text, and have 500px gifs. Just imagine how the discussion will look like.

murali Just so there's no confusion:

Toby has currently enabled the extension for this thread only (yes, the signature extension features granular control that allows it to be applied on a per-tag or per-thread basis!) and temporarily disabled the automatic suspension setting to give forum members a time to design their own personal signatures.

Automatic suspension will be enabled after a one-day grace period; so you might want to start looking for that perfect animated GIF that you feel best expresses the real you. Self-expression ... it's what Flarum's all about!

I should mention that there probably won't be any way to disable this new feature, as @Toby feels very strongly about signatures. For a better understanding of his thoughts on the matter, I recommend reading the last bullet point under Make Yourself Heard in the Community Guidelines.

What I'm feeling is, there should be an option to turn off signatures if I don't want to see any of them. So members should have an option to view others signatures or not.

Setting minimum requirement for number of gifs and jpegs will clutter the discussion. Maximum limit is ok,but why minimum? Why forcing members even if they don't want to? Like at least one of them should be gif etc ...

I understand flarum is about self-expression. Can't we express ourselves with a standard jpeg? ?

Since big walls of text are pretty boring, we’re enforcing that a minimum number of images be included too. At least one of them must be an animated GIF to boost engagement.

Okay, in my opinion, signatures in a forum are useless. Please allow for it to be an extension so people like me, that don't want signatures, can disable them.
This whole discussion can already be seen as an example why signatures are useless. It's just a bunch of data with no meaning, that no one wants to see and that gets repeated everytime a user participates. More time wasted scrolling.

Ah finally the much talked of feature has been released. So happy to see it running on these forums. I already had some thoughts how to make this feature a bit stronger;

Show the length of the signature in the right side vertical scrollbar in another color.
Allow admin to overrule all gifs with an advertisement.
Add a paypal donate button for Flarum unless you've bought Flarum premium, not sure whether this will see the light of day. But face it, the best location for this is in the obligatory signatures!

I'll take some time to ponder these changes.
