Shout - Private Messaging for Flarum

Does it occur simply when opening conversations or when scrolling to view lots of old messages?

Kyrne usually when scrolling through messages inside an active discussion. Even responding presents a 2 second lag and then your think it's not worked, then you land up double posting.

In addition, I still see some responses being posted twice.

So, this isn’t like DMs on Twitter or something like that? Because I see all the posts about each user setting up before using and passwords. I guess Twitter’s DMs aren’t encrypted? Is that the difference?

Is there any way to disable the end-to-end encryption feature? My forum is used as a trading site and users would require moderators to judge their discussion upon dispute.

I like Shout better than byobu, but Shout can only chat if both sides have set Private Message Password. If there is no password, users can't be searched, which hinders communication with others.

I hope that in the subsequent update, users can be searched even if someone else doesn't set a password. Users without password can also receive new messages, and then remind users to set private message password.

I've removed shout in favour of Byobu as this seems to be better suited to my needs.

I haven't installed any new extensions on my Flarum setup - in an effort to not break anything - does it matter which directory I am in when I run the "composer require ..." command?

I have compser installed in ~/ and my forum is installed in /opt/bitnami/.../htdocs/.

cmwetherell you must run composer require at the root of the Flarum directory, that's the directory that contains composer.json and config.php. If you run it in the wrong directory, you will most likely experience an "unable to install" error.

Kyrne I used the administrator account to enter the password to open the private chat. There was an error on the console, but there was no problem with other accounts.Browser :Chrome85

GitHenry follow these instructions closely:

Figure out your admin account user id
In the user table, set PM_setup to 0 for JUST the admin account
Delete the entry associated with the user ID of the admin account in user_encryption_keys
Try again

Shout with "Let users make their own password - SSO Compatibility" disabled can causes an error when login via email, but after refreshing you will see that you have successfully logged in.

Beta 14 support (beta)
Fixes an issue that causes the login/sign up modals to be unresponsive.

To install, you must manually require the version composer require kyrne/shout 0.2.4-beta.1

Note: Since I am at school, this update was done with the minimum amount of work possible. Thus, I have not taken advantage of the new beta 14 features so you will not see any of the cool performance boosts just yet. In addition, this update was only tested by me and may contain some bugs. Update at your own risk.
