Yep! As for the indexing, new threads get added to tags all the time. And when you move a discussion ... from Support to Feedback - Features, for example ... you're really adding one tag (or more) and removing another.
Google has to deal with that sort of thing in any forum ... it's the nature of the beast.

If you mean what I think you mean ... it can be whatever you want. In this forum, it's what we've been calling a secondary tag. But if you think you will only use the "Solved" tag in your Support forum, and never in another forum, then you can make it a primary sub-tag of Support instead.
The advantage of tags over prefixes is this ... let's say you want a quick listing of all threads marked as "Unsolved". With prefixes, you'd have to use the search function; with tags, you can just click the Unsolved tag in the sidebar of the index page and you're there!
