I had a few updates on my system today.
Some of them were mariadb related. After doing the updates and calling:
php flarum clarkwinkelmann:likes-received:refresh

I see the following error:

I never had any issue with this so I restored a snapshot and put the mariadb updates on hold and the command works fine again.
Updates are as follows:

Does anyone have a similar problem?

m4v3rick I have never seen that error. The code seems to be coming from inside the Laravel Eloquent code, and I can't see anything wrong with the way I use those methods in the extension.

I'm not able to find any error report for Laravel.

Have those MariaDB versions been recently released? We shouldn't be too far behind with Laravel support in Flarum, we're only 1 version behind (8.x used, 9.x is latest)

@clarkwinkelmann - problem still exists. Whenever I try to update mariadb apt packages, executing the command
php flarum clarkwinkelmann:likes-received:refresh
(after those updates) fails.

m4v3rick unfortunately, I don't have any computer with MariaDB to troubleshoot.

At this point it's still unclear if it's MariaDB related. If someone finds a way to reproduce the error on a regular MySQL install I can take a quick look on my side. Otherwise this will take at least half an hour to troubleshoot and I don't have time for that unless someone sponsors it.

I looked at the Laravel issue tracker last time and couldn't find anything. If someone described this problem elsewhere online it's also possible we find a way to modify the code that I can try even if I can't test on MariaDB. But at this point I have absolutely no idea what would need changing.

To me it still looks like a potential issue with the Laravel method itself. Maybe a patch has already been released in a later Laravel version which would explain why there are no reports for this elsewhere online, but it's very hard to tell for sure.

I tried (clarkwinkelmann) this version now. Still the same error but this time I tried the six packages step by step.

What could I do?

Where are the likes supposed to appear? I have this enabled on the following:

Likes received does not show up on the user card or the profile. Is there a like threshold that has to be hit before they appear? Permission is set to everyone and I ran this command already

stryguardian it should appear on the user card, after the online status and join date. I think it will show zeros as well.

I also got this problem suddenly. It was working okay until 3 days back. Had a memory allocation issue due to wordpress installation at root. Then noticed that this along with 1 more extension (related to likes - no self likes) are not working.

wbntff what's your issue? You mean the like count label disappeared from the user profile card?

Have you tried clearing the Flarum cache and disabling and re-enabling the extension?

wbntff This is exactly what I am seeing. Likes Received and No Self Likes do not work. No Self Likes does not stop anyone from liking their own posts and Like Received does not display likes received either on the user card or on the profile header. It's like they do nothing. I've cleared cache and all.

clarkwinkelmann I've tried all possible methods. Nothing worked. Suddenly count disappeared from user card.
Also another extension - no self likes stopped working.
I've removed and re installed too, but no use.
Recently 2 changes happened.
One bot took all resources, so there was memory allocation issue which was later solved.
Upgraded php version to 8.1 as composer was not working with anything below.
Are either of them reason ?

No self Likes - this should be default function with 'Likes' extension. Why would you allow self post likes. Also the likes count should come with 'Likes' extension (option to enable/disable)

wbntff I really have no idea, I have never experienced this issue myself.

Only thing I can think of, if you hit memory allocation issue during javascript compilation, the javascript of some extensions could be missing. But a cache clear should solve the issue.

Can you send me a link to your website (with the extension enabled) so that I check if the javascript is missing? You can send me privately via Discord or email if you want.

clarkwinkelmann never mind.. i solved the issue and also few other issues by reinstalling flarum in a subdomain. Earlier in subdirectory it had few path issues (as said in my first post). Clearing cache or clearing likes cache didn't help though.
Just reinstalled in different path and linked to old database.
What I understood is that flarum is best at root level of domain or subdomain. Not in subdirectory.
But on a serious note, likes count and no self likes should be along with Likes extension, not seperate

stryguardian this should fix the issue for you. For future reference, can you let me know what your database server and version is? There was a "mistake" in the code but it looks like MySQL didn't care about that.

HD3D I think someone reported this error to one of my extensions in the past, not sure which. I remember it had something to do with MariaDB and some Laravel functions not working as expected. Unfortunately I never found a fix because the problem was in Laravel itself. Maybe it's something different though. Could you post your php flarum info output?
