Flarum SEO Problem | A Few Suggestions

Flarum is currently in beta.

However, I want to write some important SEO problem I have seen.

1 - There are too many dofollow links on the site. ("Mentions, Likes, Replies") - Their attributes must be "rel = nofollow".
This item is very, very important. The reason for this: When Google bots enter the page, they see too many dofollow links and try to index them.
This slows down the performance of the bot and cannot navigate the site in great detail. I would be very happy if you bring this feature before Beta 14 is released. Fixing all plugins one by one with node.js is very tiring.

2 - the ?near tag.
Google indexes both the near tag and the normal page. Therefore, because the two urls are trying to index in the same way, the bot is slow and cannot navigate the site in detail.

I ask you, edit at least item 1 before beta 14 comes out.

I love Flarum. However, doing the above on SEO will take us much further.

Alshain Hi! Beta 14 is currently in feature freeze, so the only things that will be included are bugfixes for issues introduced during beta 14. We want to add in features when we can, but this release has been going for 5 months due to its definition around the frotnend rewrite, and we need to get it out and switch back to our 2 month release cycle.

That being said, we are hoping to tackle some SEO issues prior to stable (flarum/core189), but your bringing up some explicit examples is great! For the nofollow issue, perhaps the default for the new Link component should be nofollow? If you have suggestions to add to the issue I linked, that would be very useful. And of course, pull requests are welcome 😃

When does the ?near tag get applied? I don't recall seeing that yet.

I'm not sure about the nofollow thing. I get your point, but I'm not sure what the industry standard is for links like those. For now I think the approach was to keep all internal links dofollow.

Whatever we decide to do, a community extensions could be created to make these changes.
