Avatar upload jpg

So as I couldn't find what was wrong as the jpg image upload for avatar was working fine with an identical install 3 days ago (same server setup, same extensions, same versions, same file permissions), I replaced my actual vendor folder with the one from 3 days ago and now I can upload jpg images for my avatars...

Hi luceos,

Well I really don't understand what's happening here... I haven't changed anything and the issue with jpg upload for avatars (png works fine) is back on my production forum (cafe.novo-monde.com) and my loaclhost development. I'll try to give more details... maybe someone has an idea:

When I upload a jpg image I get this error notice box: "the avatar should be a file og type: jpeg, png, bmp, gif"
In my console I have the following error message: "Failed to load resource: the server responded with a status of 422 (Unprocessable Entity)"
In my nginx logs I have a warning saying: "a client request body is buffered to a temporary file /var/cache/nginx/client_temp/0000000001"... But I get this warning if I try to upload any type of images (avatar and in discussions) but it only fails with jpg images and only for avatar upload.

Any ideas maybe? thanks

bluisier can you check the mimetype of the file you're trying to upload; there are some online tools for that, linux also has one: file --mime-type <file>

bluisier I'm running into the same issue with image/jpeg files. Converting to png and then uploading works fine.

@luceos hey, so i just look into the code and found out the problem with this is the update of Symfony\Mine\MimeTypes. In the old version, it returns ['jpeg', 'jpg', 'jpe'], but it was updated to ['jpg', 'jepg', 'jpe'] 2 months ago.
There should be an update for the AvatarValidator.

luuhai48 Any way I can help to fix this? I'm happy to mess around a bit on my dev local install

luuhai48 I'm curious why that order even matters, I guess this means we should dive into the validator source and possibly even the Laravel validation rule for that one.

I tried the same file on versions 13 and 14. At 13 it loads but at 14 it doesn't

luuhai48 So for now, i find the simplest solution is to run composer require symfony/mime:v5.1.9

luuhai48 Ganesha604 try with forward slash /. Backslash attempts to escape the letter that follows.

Just for the record: we're running into the same problem after migrating to 14.1 the day before yesterday. jpg or jpeg doesn't work, png is fine.
